A Perfect Recipe for Mothers Day
This recipe is perfect for Mothers Day. It is a rather unique recipe but one I think you will want to keep once you read it; and for those of you who have never mixed up a bowl of flour paste glue you don’t know what you’re missing. Being creative and being a Mother go hand in hand, and my Mother was certainly a very creative lady. Please share this happy little Mothers Day Story with Mom’s everywhere as a tribute and as a wish for a wonderful Mothers Day!
How To Make Flour Paste Glue
When I was very little and very young and my sister and I were bored, my very creative mother found a thrifty way to keep us entertained. One day when my Mother was in the kitchen baking and cooking up a storm, she took a little flour and a little water and mixed them together into a thick gooey concoction in a bowl and put it in the middle of the kitchen table. Then we got out some paper and crayons and scissors and we created magnificent arts and crafts
projects, all pasted and held together with our flour paste glue. I’ll bet you’re all thinking that couldn’t work and would like to ask, “Hey, did it work?” Well, actually, yes, it did!
It’s Not Elmer’s Glue but…
Now, I wouldn’t exactly say it worked as well as Elmer’s Glue but it worked well enough to allow us to enjoy making our art projects; and it held them together for a while, a few days, or maybe a week or so. So, it was a short term solution, but just like in life sometimes a short term solution is the only option you have to a problem on any given day, at any given time.
For many years I never gave flour paste glue much thought until one day when I was having a particularly difficult day full of problems and I thought to myself, “I’ll just have to deal with all of this with some short term fixes. I’ll just hold my life together with flour paste glue for awhile until I can find more permanent solutions.” I hadn’t thought about flour paste glue for a very long time before that day, but sometimes ideas just dwell someplace in the recesses of your mind until you need them, and then they just pop up to help you carry-on. Perhaps as a writer I should refer to that concept as creativity, but it’s also a concept of survival. Sometimes, you might feel like flour paste glue is all you have to hold your life together with; but honestly, sometimes that’s just enough.
